Production Class Champion makes one-off return to Civic Cup at Castle Combe

Last year’s Production Class Champion Mervyn Beckett has announced he will return to the Milltek Sport Civic Cup grid this weekend to contest rounds nine and ten at Castle Combe Circuit on Saturday 6th August.

Having secured the backing to make a one-off appearance, Beckett will be driving an EP3 Honda Civic in the ultra-competitive Cup Class, supported by championship stalwarts Kinetic Motorsport.

An impressive performance on his way to the 2021 Production Class title saw him record five class wins and a further seven appearances on the Production Class podium.

Therefore, with his 2022 motorsport activities taking a back seat due to his newborn child and business commitments, Beckett is excited to be back on the track and see how he fairs against the Cup Class regulars.

“I’m over the moon to get the chance to race in the Cup Class after winning the Production Class title last year. Having sold my car to put help fund my business and the new addition to the family, Tilly, I wasn’t expecting to race at all in 2022, so I’m really looking forward to it”, explained Beckett.

“I’ve had some luck with locating a half-built car and managed to find the required parts to go racing again. It’s red and not yellow this time and will be ready just in time for Castle Combe, so I’m excited to see how she goes!”
