Capacity grid for Milltek Sport Civic Cup for Brands Hatch triple-header

Such is the popularity of this year’s Milltek Sport Civic Cup, this weekend’s event at Brands Hatch will see 34 cars on the grid, the maximum number allowed to compete around the technically demanding 1.208-mile Indy circuit.

Saturday hosts round four of this highly competitive championship for Civic Type Rs manufactured between 2001 and 2011, with rounds five and six taking place on Sunday.

So far one meeting has taken place, the opening three rounds held on May Bank Holiday Monday at Cadwell Park. Winners on that occasion were Dan Thackeray, George Alp-Williams and Morgan Bailey who each scored victories, whilst a fourth, third and second place provided last year’s runner-up Matt Luff with enough points to lead the championship as we head into this weekend. Alp-Williams follows in second place just three points behind, with both Thackeray and last year’s Champion Alistair Camp tying for third place a further nine points back.

In the Production Class for cars with fewer modifications, it was a clean sweep for Alfie Jeakins who was unstoppable around the challenging Lincolnshire circuit, taking three impressive wins and in doing so, now enjoys a 10-point lead in the category standings ahead of Dave Marshall, who was equally as consistent having scored three-second places.

Although the racing was close at Cadwell Park, Brands Hatch provides competitors with a different challenge, the circuit wider and more flowing, therefore, providing more opportunities for overtaking. With both Luff and Camp recording wins when the championship visited the venue last year, they will both be looking for a repeat performance, but with the competition so close, it won’t be an easy task.

The action gets underway this weekend with a 15-minute Qualifying session starting at 10.45 on Saturday, followed by the first of three 15-minute races at 14.10. Sunday’s two rounds get the green light at 12.30 and 17.00 respectively.
