Bailey tops disrupted Free Practice session at Cadwell Park

The first practice session for the 2022 Milltek Sport Civic Cup season saw Morgan Bailey top the times, despite a mid-session red flag due to oil being spilt on the circuit.

It was Ryan Bensley who set the early quick times in the timed session in his Zest Racecar Engineering EP3, going top with a time of 1:40.253 however, he would soon be bested by Bailey, who went quicker on a 1:38.803 with Max Lewis slotting into second place on a  1:39.594 in his Mintro Motorsport EP3 Civic.

As more drivers took to the track, the times would soon chop and change before the session was red-flagged due to oil on the circuit, leaving the field to return to the pits as this was cleaned up.

The top ten stood with Bailey, ahead of Max Lewis with Alistair Camp third as both Bensley and George Alp-Williams completed the top five. Matt Luff, Max Edmundson, Jordan Brennan, Harvey Caton and Brad Lane completed the top ten.

The session resumed with five minutes on the clock and once the warm-up laps were completed, Bailey remained fastest ahead of Lewis, Camp and Bensley with Dan Thackeray putting in a late lap to take fifth place at the end of the session.

Edmundson, Alp-Williams, Matt Luff rounded out the top eight places with Alfie Threlfall displacing Brennan for ninth place at the flag.

In Production, the Jeakins Race Preparation duo of Alfie Jeakins and Loui Hounsell led the early part of the session, trading times with each other before at the top of the class with Jeakins quickest on a 1:47.345.

Snetterton sensation Dave Marshall soon got up to speed and put his KA Car Sales with Kinetic Motorsport FN2 Civic into third place ahead of both Simon Welch and Mark Hughes.

Once the session got underway again after the red flag interruption, Marshall would set the quickest time in the dying minutes with a 1:44.787, as Jeakins and Hounsell were second and third fastest.

Hughes improved to go fourth quickest in class, setting a better time that Welch late in the session.
