2022 Milltek Sport Civic Cup launches at Brands Hatch

The 2022 Milltek Sport Civic Cup was launched on Monday 28th March, when many of the competitors taking part in this year’s 16-round championship attended a pre-season media and test day at Brands Hatch.

The event enabled drivers to take to the track and use the six test sessions to gain invaluable seat time before the opening round at Cadwell Park on 1st May. The day also gave teams the chance to assess the competition and see who’ll they’ll be up against during the course of this season.

Following a landmark year in 2021, when the single-make series for EP3 and FN2 Type-R models manufactured between 2001 and 2011 enjoyed well-populated grids and witnessed some of the closest saloon car racing in the UK, championship organisers were delighted to kick off 2022 in spectacular style and set the scene for the season ahead.

Attendees at the press conference heard that well over 30 driver registrations have been received so far. Consequently, grid sizes are expected to exceed those of last year, with some of the circuits on the calendar likely to be close to capacity when the Civics take to the track.

As well as over 50% of the field so far made up of drivers and teams who have competed before, organisers are pleased to see a large contingent of competitors sign-up for the first time. The entry list covers a span of over forty years and features drivers with a wide range of experience levels.

Stewart Lines, Milltek Sport Civic Cup Coordinator and owner of championship promoters Maximum Motorsport said:

“It’s been great to see the Civic Cup establish itself as one of the most popular and competitive one-make championships in the country. It’s also one of the most accessible and friendly too, features that are endorsed by the increasing number of registrations we’ve received for this year.

“Building on the experience gained over previous seasons, we’ve tightened up a few of the regulations, which should make the competition even fairer and closer in both the Cup and Production classes. With capacity grids, events that attract large numbers of spectators and a revised media package, we’re excited to see what this season has in store for all involved.”

The 2022 Milltek Sport Civic Cup is supported by Milltek Sport, Goodyear, PBS, Liqui Moly, Co-ordSport, Berkshire Turbo, Steel Seal, Maximum Networks, MaxiCloud Hosted Telephony, Maximum Performance and Joyce Design. The Championship is administered by Club Time Attack.
