Luff sets strong pole position for first Civic race at Anglesey

Matt Luff took an early pole position during qualifying ahead of the first Milltek Sport Civic Cup race at Anglesey, setting a time of 1:40.268 that remained unbeaten in the Cup class, whilst Mervyn Beckett to pole for the Production class.

Having been beaten by points leader Alistair Camp in Free Practice, Luff is looking to close the points on his series rival and set an early time of 1:40.906 before lowering that to a 1:40.268.

Camp set an early quick time of 1.40.626 which he never bettered, despite going for a fast lap right at the end of the session and going fastest in the first sector, however, his effort in the second sector wasn’t good enough and the points leader settled for second on the grid.

Jamie Tonks stayed in close company with Camp as he put a time of 1:40.758 which ended up being fast enough to take third place on the grid ahead of George Alp-Williams who joins him on the second row.

Dave Buky, who, like others, set his time early on in the session which began as a dry session.

Mervyn Beckett took pole for the Production class, having gone quickest in Free Practice, Beckett went on to set the fastest time of 1:44.481 ahead of Dave Baldwin after Harry Threlfall had set an early time of 1.46.162 before the track became quicker.

Alfie Threlfall moved up the order to fourth place during the session before being beaten to it by Rhys Lewis who went faster on a 1:46.281.

As the flag fell, Beckett secured pole position ahead of Baldwin, with Harry Threlfall and Lewis on row two whilst Alfie Threlfall dropped to fifth place ahead of Matthew Stenning.

With a delay in track action at the circuit, race one is scheduled to get underway around 13:20 onwards where livestreaming coverage can be found on the series Facebook page and YouTube channel.
