Camp storms through the pack to take win number four of the season

Cup Class points leader Alistair Camp drove through the reverse grid second race of the day in the second Milltek Sport Civic Cup race at Anglesey to take his fourth win of the year as Harry Threlfall took his first win of the year in the Production Class.

Phillip Wright made a good start from pole position to lead away from Simon Waite and Rob Philips as Camp had already started to make gains through the Cup drivers, passing both Waite and Phillips before the end of lap one and setting his sights on the lead on lap two.

As Wright defended from Camp, behind were Philips, Jamie Tonks, George Alp-Williams and Matt Luff in the top six and staying in close formation, however, Camp passed Wright for the lead on lap three and began to make his getaway.

With his race one win behind him, Tonks closed on Wright and pressured him for second place whilst Alp-Williams was trying to hold off fourth place as Luff looked to make his way up the order further. As the various drivers started to pair off in their battles, Dave Buky was in the thick of the action also as he battled Ross Darlington for seventh place.

Tonks eventual pressuring on Wright ended with a superb pass for second place through Church corner however he was unable to stop Camp from taking the win, whilst Alp-Williams held of Luff for fourth place with Buky completing the top six.

In the Production Class, Mervyn Beckett was an early retirement as he pitted early on whilst upfront Harry Threlfall motored away to take his first win of the year ahead of a very busy Production class fight for positions.

Matthew Stenning managed to pass Simon Welch for second place early on as David Baldwin also pitted with car issues, allowing Welch then dropped behind Rhys Lewis, Mark Hughes and Alfie Threlfall to sixth place in class.

As Threlfall took his victory, it was ahead of Stening, with Alfie Threlfall also on the podium ahead of Hughes and Lewis with Welch and Johnathan Shore completing the classified runners.

Rounds ten and eleven of the 2021 Milltek Sport civic Cup will take place on the Donington Park national circuit on August 30.
