Get InvolvedWant to get involved? this is how last years champion Rich Hockley did
Rich Hockley is a 43 year old service manager and last year became the debut Civic Cup champion. "I've done trackdays since the 80's like Ford national days, but my involvement in the Civic cup came from doing karting, Myself and two mates started doing six hour endurance races in 2010. At the time i was doing lots of trackdays in a Porsche 997 Carrera S, but the karting showed me how much fun racing was.
I went to the Autosport show looking for something different, i looked at Caterhams and other forms , until i caught the eye of the Civic Cup stand. I've always liked Hondas because they're reliable and fun and, when i found out how cost-effective the series is, i signed up straight away.
I like the fact that the Civic Cup is somewhere between tuning and racing. Its not about how big your wallet is , as some of the cars are entry level or pro level, but are so close together in race. all the cars have to meet a minimum weight of 1050 kg, (and are weighed randomly at racedays!) so as to make it fair as possible to all the drivers and to make it exciting.
My advice to anyone thinking about it is : don't think about it do it , You'll struggle to go racing for this kind of money anywhere else! , let alone in anything that is so competitive.
